On the backstreet of 'Kokusai-dori' street in Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture, unique shopping areas such as 'Makishi' public market and 'Tsuboya Yachimun Street' are found.

Strictly speaking, Makishi public market is made up of three markets, such as a miscellaneous goods market, clothing market and food market. But as the former two markets stand in other places than this vicinity, Makishi public market alluded here is the food market. This market is a two-story building, the first floor of which is for a food market focused on fresh fish, and the second floor is for an inexpensive food stall as shown in the first and second pictures. It's interesting that the fresh fish bought on the first floor is cooked on the second floor to serve you at the stall based on your request.
As shown in the third picture, both sides of Tsuboya Yachimun Street is lined with many pottery shops. This neighborhood survived the wartime destruction during the second World War, and so there still remains the nostalgic townscape of old Okinawa.
